Tomorrow we enter the second half of 2026!
As I woke up this morning, eager to go all in for the last six months of the year, I was reminded of a quote from my mentor, friend, and 18-year business partner, Jim Rohn:
“To attract positive people, you must be positive. To attract powerful people, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Instead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract. Your level of success will rarely exceed your level of personal development.”
Confession time: I’ve always taken pride in my work ethic, going back to my early days as a seminar promoter filling up huge rooms when I would hire Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, and Og Mandino to speak to my audiences. In 1993, that led to me making Jim Rohn an offer for the exclusive opportunity to book him, create and market products, and promote him to the marketplace. The next year I also started YourSuccessStore so I could book and promote Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Denis Waitley, Mark Victor Hansen, Bob Burg, and many others as well.
And we had great success. I often felt like I willed and worked my way to that success.
But, I seemed to be missing a key part of Jim Rohn’s philosophy: working harder on myself than my job. My bank account grew, but my stress level, lifestyle, and health suffered.
Jim said that you don’t chase success, you attract success by the person you become.
Today, more than ever, where you can create your own platform and have access to virtually everyone through social media, Jim’s advice has never been more relevant.
We each have the ability to attract the people who are in the perfect position to work with and learn from us and who we will be inspired to help and teach!
If 2026 is not netting you all the success you want, ask yourself, are you becoming the person that others want to work with and learn from?
It’s important to do the things that will make you the person capable of helping those you want to reach. Sometimes that means starting new habits. Sometimes that means stopping old habits—giving yourself the gift of time and space to grow spiritually, physically, relationally, mentally, recreationally, and financially.
If you work on becoming the best version of yourself above all else, when the second half of the year comes to a close, you may not only marvel at how your business expands but also witness the person will have become!
