Knowledge, information, goals, and even positive associations are weak substitutes compared to the power that comes from a person who is resolved!
I’m sure many of you have read the classic book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. As a young event promoter, I first read it at age 28.
That book taught me many powerful concepts, including knowing your major definite purpose in life and the power of persistence.
It also has a story about a young girl and her resolve to not be taking advantage of by a store owner. She had given the shop owner a dollar for some goods (the story is set in the 1930’s), and because of her race, age, and lack of education, he refused to give her back the 50 cents he owed her. Napoleon Hill goes on to tell us that in spite of the threat of physical harm, the young girl did not back down. She became even more resolved in demanding he give her the 50 cents he owed her—until he finally did.
Every day we may encounter situations that feel like a battle of wills—a battle of competing desires. Most of the time, these battles are actually within ourselves.
But once a person is firmly resolved, they’ll not only see their enemies buckle, they will see divine doors open before them.
“There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.” – Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Oftentimes, it’s adversity that pushes us into the corner of resolve, that place where we must take a stand. We must take our actions, faith, and commitment to a new level.
When we do, we will always see positive results.
“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” – Henry David Thoreau
Here’s to powerful breakthroughs, prosperity, and resolve!
