This morning I want to share with you a some key marketing ideas I’ve used in consulting and coaching thousands of entrepreneurs and companies like Darren Hardy, Robin Sharma, Todd Stottlemyre, The Real Estate Guys as well as that I have used to build my own 8 figure business.
“I guard my endorsements carefully. Regarding Kyle, he is simply a marketing genius! No joke. Kyle was the wizard behind the successful business of my mentor Jim Rohn. Every marketing dilemma I have ever had, Kyle has given me the brilliant and elegant solution on the spot. Kyle’s consulting has saved and earned me hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years.” – Darren Hardy, Speaker, Author, Former Publisher SUCCESS Magazine
This is a small sample of what I will share next weekend at the Virtual 2 Day that Ron White and myself will be hosting, Memory & Marketing.
- Marketing is about connecting the dots!
Marketing is not about being manipulative or trying to be clever, it’s simply finding the most efficient and effective way to connect your products and services with an audience.
Factors include your existing products and services, the marketplace, the competition, your unique goals, your existing resources and your own special talents and secret sauce.
What makes you special? What makes you unique? What is the best way to connect your products and services with the right audience?
What is the low hanging, neglected fruit for you and your business?
Don’t copy someone else. Connect the dots for all the factors that directly effect you and your business.
I will be sharing dozens of scenarios to take into account.
- Marketing is about tactics and principles
Tactics may include social media, email, podcast, direct mail, one-on-one, events, apps, and much more.
Tactics change as technology changes.
I’m a tactic guy. I have built a million plus list, sold millions of books, filled up huge rooms.
Yes I use tactics.
But principles in marketing are even more important than tactics.
Principle based marketing includes having a great product.
Having great service.
Being consistent.
Caring about people and putting relationships first.
Oftentimes tactic focused marketing churns through people and ends up treating the audience like a commodity.
I always say NEVER let a tactic (no matter how new and great it may seem or be) override principle based marketing.
We will spend a lot of time on both the tactic and principle based strategies of marketing May 8-9 at Memory & Marketing.
- Marketing is about being strategic.
I always say everything works, putting business cards on windshields works, it just doesn’t work that well.
You have to find the most strategic way to knock down the most dominoes in your business…which takes me to #4, the wheel.
- The Wheel
The concept of the wheel and spokes came to me in 1993 when I launched Jim Rohn International. Jim had a handful of products and services (and no list) and I thought how do I get people once they experience one product to go around the wheel to the other products (each spoke on the wheel represented a product or service).
And the BIGGER question was how do I get more people ON the wheel (customer acquisition).
There are FOUR key criteria to discover your own strategic wheel, the spokes to add and the spokes to remove.
Most people are trying to do too many things vs the ONE BIG THING that can change everything.
At our Memory & Marketing Event I spend a lot of time walking you through the key strategies of how to design your OWN wheel (similar to what I have done for multiple 7 and 8 figure businesses).
This is HUGE!
- Social Proof, Testimonials and Your Website
My good friend Jeffrey Gitomer says “When you talk about yourself its bragging. When someone else says it about you then it’s proof”!
Anyone can make promises and say great things about themselves, but proof through testimonials, pictures, and video are a 1000x more powerful.
It’s important to offer proof in all your marketing.
Where do you live? You live 24/7 on your website and social platforms.
Make sure your website and social presence reflects your unique social proof!
There are 4 keys to your website I will be sharing at our Memory & Marketing Event
- Build an audience
Whoever has the biggest audience will have the most influence in the marketplace.
I’ve met speakers and authors who have never built a list or audience.
Same for doctors, realtors, coaches, real estate syndicators etc.
And then I’ve met (and coached) speakers, authors, professionals, who understand the value and power of building a list they nurture and talk to.
And they almost always outgrow their competition by 2-10x.
You must be intentional in building your own audience and tribe. I walk you through over a dozen ways to do it.
- Talk to your audience
People often times collect hundreds if not thousands of business cards but then never talk to their potential prospects and customers.
They have to start every day hunting.
If you’re doing only one-on-one communication and you don’t have a way to talk to your audience as a group, you’re always hunting.
But when you organize a way to talk to your audience by group now you’re fishing.
Give them great content, give them great information, invite them to cool stuff, be a utility to your customers and prospects, let them know what’s going on.
Then on occasion, yes you can promote a product or service you have, especially when its timely.
And when you do, it doesn’t matter who says yes. Just like fishing, put it out there and see who is ready to say yes to the things that matter to them.
And what’s even better is when you can create offers that have fish jumping in the boat!
I will be sharing at Memory and Marketing a powerful way to create new offers to your audience and test if it will work and when it does, have the fish jump in the boat!
If you’re not talking to your audience, believe me your competition is.
Money Follows Attention!
